  • Tom holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate for airplanes and helicopters and has been flying since 1972.
  • He was CEO / Executive Director/ President in the Health Care and Insurance industries, has been a Flight Instructor at The Ohio State University Airport for the last 35 years
  • Tom is active in horse rescue, rehabilitation and adoption.
  • He is currently innovative Principal at AIRvocation™ coaching and training business owners and professionals  to achieve the ultimate travel freedom: the ability to fly themselves.
  • Tom is a passionate advocate for health and financial benefits for individuals and families facing serious health concerns.
  • He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation and Logistics / Marketing, from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Tom Baxter - The Pilot, SkyDiver, Coach and Instructor

Tom’s first job as a flight instructor in 1976 was on Staff with OSU during and after college.

His career in aviation includes work as a Charter, Corporate and Regional Airline Pilot, as well as flying emergency medical and aerial application (agricultural) helicopters.

He has had a lifelong interest in aerobatics.

Tom holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with a multiengine land airplane rating, with Commercial privileges ratings in single engine airplanes and rotorcraft-helicopters.

He’s a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) with single and multiengine airplanes, and instrument airplane ratings.

Since developing, implementing and directing the original Grant Medical Center LifeFlight Helicopter Program from 1982 – 1988, his career has been primarily in the health care industry, and he has remained an active Pilot and Flight Instructor. He advocates in the health care and financial services as a Consultant, flight instructs for Capital City Aviation at OSU and for private Clients, and flies for Skydive Columbus on weekends.

His current AIRvocation™ professional venture may just be the most exciting to date: developing new programs to promote the safe and effective use of Owner-flown general aviation aircraft in business. AIRvocation™ goes beyond teaching Clients how to fly airplanes, but how to leverage aircraft as safe and effective business productivity and lifestyle tools.

Tom continues to organize the BarnDads Hospitality Events which support the New Vocation Race Horse Adoptions Program, is a member of The Bruise Brothers Garage Rock Band.

Tom makes the world’s best vodka martini. He lives in the Columbus, Ohio area and has three adult daughters with his wife, Cheryl.

He enjoys time with his family, friends, dogs, horses, and is active in fitness, shooting sports, scuba diving, kayaking and camping.
